England's second largest county, Lincolnshire is on the east coast between the River Humber and The Wash. The county town is the historic City of Lincoln.
Although the traditional county of Lincolnshire was restored in 1996, for local government administrative purposes the 1974 boundaries remain, two new unitary authorities replacing the southern part of the short-lived (and not wholly popular) county of Humberside. The map above shows the historic area of Lincolnshire.
