Despite its size, Scilly has a rich and unique aeronautical heritage and this book was published to coincide with the diamond jubilee of the first scheduled flight in September 1937.
Written by Mike Ingham, the leading authority on Scilly's aviation history, To the Sunset Bound traces the fascinating history of civil air services from the early de Havilland Dragons to the present day S-61N helicopter.
Scilly's Atlantic location means that it is a terminus of air routes, and not a stopping place en route to somewhere else, and there is an examination of the special requirements of operating in the south-west of the UK.
The photographs - many of them never published before - cover the full 60 years and details are given of all the operators and their fleets.
